Return to Revolutionary Camp No. 5

 — A Bolton 300th+3 Event with Historic Encampment & Training by Le Régiment Bourbonnais 13ème

When : Saturday, Oct. 7th - 10 A.M. to 6:30 P.M.  &  Sunday, Oct. 8th - 10 A.M. to 3PM
Where : Bolton Heritage Farm—266 Bolton Center Rd.



The French are coming!! In 1781, Rochambeau's troops - on their way to meet General Washington and his Continental Army - camped in Bolton, CT at what is now Bolton Heritage Farm on Center Road. This was known as Camp Site Number Five. In a continuation of Bolton's 300th anniversary, the Heritage Farm Commission has teamed with Le Regiment Bourbonnais (https://www.regtbourbonnais.com/) to host a living history weekend of this encampment. This event is FREE to the public and will offer a glimpse to what a Revolutionary encampment would have been like. Parking areas will be marked and on the street.

Saturday, 10/7 - Public Hours, 10 AM to 6:30 PM

  • Morning formation and duty roster
  • Distribution of rations by Quartermaster and a cooking contest
  • Public tours of the camp
  • Morning musket demonstrations for the public (French and American)
  • "Nooning" - Lunch
  • 1PM/W3R Signage Dedication
  • "School of the Soldier" and combined unit drilling
  • Afternoon musket demonstrations for the public (French and American)
  • 5:30-6:30PM - Twilight Stroll

Sunday, 10/8 - Public Hours, 10 AM to 3 PM

  • Morning formation and duty roster
  • Combined unit drilling
  • "Nooning" - Lunch
  • Afternoon musket demonstrations for the public (French and American)
  • 2PM/Camp take-down

There will be a scavenger hunt BOTH days for children to participate in, with fun interactive activities and questions to ask the actors.
