21st Annual FREE Town-Wide Photo Contest

Submission Deadline is May 9th
We welcome images that celebrate Bolton's unique environment and natural beauty! 
Photograph a colorful morning sunrise or an evening sunset over Bolton Lake. Look for birds or other wildlife to photograph while enjoying a hike through Bolton's Freja or Herrick Park. Take a photo overlooking the valley from Bolton's Heritage Farm. Share a photo of your most effective energy saving idea or any active farming or gardening in town. Bolton offers so many beautiful places and opportunities to capture an image. All it takes is getting out there to find it!

What to enter/ Where to send: Only digital photos, no hard copy photos will be accepted. Landscape (horizontal) photos are preferred (for calendar use), but vertical images can be sent too. Photos must be taken in the Town of Bolton. Images should be of appropriate subject matter, sharp and in focus, good exposure and have a balanced composition. Image resolution should be at least 300 dpi. 
Submit digital photos to BoltonPhoto@aol.com (jpeg format preferred). Each image must include photo identification. Include photographer's name, address and phone number along with the photo location. Specify the photo category for your image and give it a title.
Example: "Evening Sunset over Bolton Lake" - The Beauty of Nature & Wildlife 

Four Categories: (images can be color or black/white any season/ year)

  1. Examples of Green Living & Farming
  2. Beauty of Nature & Open Space
  3. People in the Environment
  4. Wildlife in Bolton

Many great prizes will be awarded to the top three photos in each category!

Winners may also be featured in the Bolton- "A Town for All Seasons" 2022-2023 Calendar.

We anticipate that all prizes will be awarded at Bolton's Family Day event, or they may be delivered right to your front door!

Contest Rules

  1. Photos must depict the Town of Bolton.
  2. Eligibility: Open to the public, even non-residents {Conservation Commission members are not eligible).
  3. Photographs must be submitted by the photographer or include written permission.
  4. All entries become the property of the Town of Bolton Conservation Commission, with shared rights for unlimited reproduction in print, electronic publications and promotional materials for an unlimited period of time. Published photos will be given photo credit.
  5. You may submit up to three photos per category (max. 12 photographs).
  6. Entries can be submitted in either color or black and white, (jpeg. format landscape images preferred for calendar use and at least 300 dpi. or greater).
  7. Each image submitted must include the photographers name, address, phone number and location, along with the specific category and photo title.
  8. Be prepared to provide the Bolton Conservation Commission with written consent of anyone who appears in the photograph.
  9. The Conservation Commission and selected judges look for images sharp in focus and exposure, balanced in composition, and show originality and creativity. All decisions by the judges are final.
  10. The Bolton Conservation Commission reserves the right to add or adjust; photo titles and any prizes and/or deadlines) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control.
